A new section in the Upper Greensand, near Edington, Wiltshire

A section in the Upper Greensand was exposed during widening of the B3098 Edington to Erlestoke road. One bed (Bed 2) produced phosphatised and nonphosphatised ammonite faunas of Callihoplites auritus Sub-zone age (Upper Albian, Mortoniceras inflatum Zone). The importance of this bed is briefly discussed.
